Home Staging in Colors

When one of our partners successfully sold his private home at a very high asking price, we realized the careful attention given to colors was one of the great reasons home staging is so important when selling a home. Many realtors will tell you that having a flawlessly staged home is key to doubling the seller’s asking price. When staging a home, we find it is key to put together a place where someone can walk in and take a look around and begin to feel comfortably inspired while truly envisioning themselves entertaining guests, spending perfect quality time with family, and of course, kicking back after a day’s work. Everything a buyer is seeking in a new home can be highlighted with the right colors, to further emphasize what it feels to live in that exact home.

Here are some excellent color tips that will inspire any home:

When Projekt3sixty  prepares to add colors to any particular space, we always ask ourselves several questions like “What is the purpose of each specific room”, “What type of person will live in this room most?” and “What emotions does this room bring out”? Once you can answer these three questions, you can begin to work on adding the most inspiring color options for each space.

  1. Red

Various shades of Red are often associated with dynamic strength, happiness, warmth, and elegance. The lighter spectrum of reds has been known to promote vitality and emotion, while darker shades inspire a sense of sophisticated style.

Use caution when using Reds, as it is the most powerful hue in the entire color spectrum and it can overtake a room, for example bedrooms, and any spaces to be used for calming and relaxation. Leisure and entertaining spaces like Living rooms are ideal areas to use reddish shade of orange accent pillows, as well as other home decor accessories. Leave the darker and pure reds for a dining room, bringing about a sense of warmth and richness especially when paired with darker wood furniture.

  1. Blue:

Who doesn’t love blue? This color motivates feelings of serenity and relaxation. Additional, muted blues are most connected to the ocean, which stimulates a serene tone within a room. Pastel blues help to brighten up a space, while lowering stress. Blue is the mostly widely accepted color, and almost all home buyers enjoy seeing strokes of this color in our staged homes.

For spaces where the main activity is sleep and relaxation, one can easily bring in tones of blue through bedding accessories, accent walls, and drapes. You want potential home buyers to envision a space they can feel comfortable simply unwinding.

  1. Green:

This color brings out feelings of harmony, evolution, and vivacity. It is an easy way to bring inspiration from the outside, inside, which provides a dynamic and balanced space for potential home buyers.

Lighter greens are perfect for children’s rooms, which promote calm and harmony. Green can also add a pop of color while fostering a calm mood, hence it can be quiet enticing to buyers with a young family or planning to start a family.

  1. Yellow:

Always keep the psychology of colors in your mind, and you will understand which colors will resonate the exact feelings of a room. We all know neutral colors effortlessly harmonize other colors, most home buyers will quickly express how serene and comforting a room makes them feel. That feeling is what consistently sells most homes. Yellow is a great color to tie into a space to bring in a sense of happiness and clarity. Brighten up any space that may lack natural sunlight with various forms of yellows. Yellow works seamlessly to with a kitchen or home-office. Try to look for gold accent furnishing which are popular, especially for a home office and library. Remember not to overdo it with Yellow as it is a color that stands out the most.

  1. Purple:

Purple combines the energy of red with the constancy of blue and infuses a touch of luxury and motivating the creative juices. When staging a hoe one key element is to always consider the upcoming seasons, for example in Spring and Summer, lavender and orchids are shades that can really freshen and brighten up a space.

Liven up an office space with elements of purple as this color will help home buyers believe they will feel inspired and comfortable to be creative. Our favorite purple accents to use when staging a space that is meant to be used for professional means are desk accessories, purple accent vases, paired with natural toned furnishings.

  1. Brown:

A natural color that is well received by most home buyers we’ve surveyed is Brown, which is most correlated with nature. Incorporating browns into a space will surely invite a sense of warmth, coziness, and permanence. Brown is a great addition to any living space through natural colored leather sofas and lounge chairs, coffee tables, and bookshelves. Use raw wooden tables in large dining rooms. This establishes a warm-hearted and reassuring area where families can begin planning spending lots of time together in their new home.

In conclusion, everything we do is to meet a buyer’s expectations while inspiring them, to want to invest in time, energy and money into a home. A buyer knows within the first 8 seconds if a home is “the one”! Let Projekt3sixty ’s creative team, help you improve and sell your home.
